About
My name is Kari Vicars. I am a 6th grade teacher at Summers Middle School. I have been teaching for 7 years, and I truly believe that it is my passion. I love teaching, I love my kids. One thing that I have found is that my students very rarely get experiences outside of our small little town. I love being able to facilitate these experiences for my students. I love the look in their eyes as they see things for the first time. I love seeing their hard work pay off. When I'm not teaching I am a wife and mommy of three adorable children. I teach because of them. The wonder and love of learning that I see in their eyes makes me want to go at it 100% everyday to provide the best possible educational experience for my students.
We come from a small community. Our school district has very little money for field trips or incentives. The teachers at my school want to reward our students for giving it all they've got. The kids are paying for their tickets and food at Carowinds at the end of the year, but transportation costs are really high. We are asking for enough funds to have transportation covered.
You hear all the time, "There are good kids out there too, the bad ones just have better press reps!" This is absolutely true. I have students who come in everyday, work hard, get good grades, and follow the rules, and really there is little to no reward for them.
Please consider helping us reach our goal. These kids deserve a "thrilling" end to their school year and you can make that happen!
