About

I am a 28 year old, full time college student who has been on the Dean's List for 2 semesters in a row. I am working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Child Welfare, then on to a Master's in Social Work, and Certifications in Art, Music, & Play Therapies as well as Special Needs Therapy. I want to work with at risk children - just like my mom did.

About This Project

My mother is 65 years old and severly crippled by arthritis and a broken back. She can no longer take care of herself alone and I need to move in with her to take care of her. This is no burden for me as my mother is my best friend and has done without all of my life so that my needs would be met. Due to the fact that I have severe PTSD I have had to rely on her more than I should as an adult. No matter how tired she is, or how much pain she is in, she is ALWAYS there when I need her. Now she needs me and I have no way to be there for her. Unfortunately I cannot move in with her due to the fact that she lives in a one bedroom that doenst allow dogs and I live in a 2nd story walk up that she cannot access. Getting rid of my girls is NOT an optition since they are my kids - I cannot have children. The move, security deposist, rent, & other various costs total more than I am asking for - I just need enough to make a dent in this seemingly unending river of costs.

Mom's whole life has been spent helping others - raising awareness about domestic violence, teaching caregivers for the elderly how to take care of their parents/loved ones, advocating for abused and neglected children. And she has done all of this while going to school for her Bachelors and Masters and raising me as a single mother with little help from anyone.

Her arthritis forced her to retire early and now makes it neccessary for her to depend on me. Please help me help my mom!
